Our State Approved Curriculum

Solomons Daycare Center implements an integrated curriculum approved by the Maryland State Department of Education based on the principles of project-based inquiry.

Projects support children’s common understanding of a topic and nurtures their innate sense of curiosity and discovery about their world

The curriculum promotes growth in the following areas of development and learning while allowing children and teachers the opportunity to engage in purposeful play.

SDCC teachers develop and implement lessons focusing on skills children develop in the following content areas:

  • literacy

  • mathematics

  • science and technology

  • social studies

  • the arts

Children’s progress in the SDCC program is documented using an ongoing observational system for assessing children from birth through kindergarten.
